Year 9 Performing Arts Showcase

An audience of Year 9 students were treated to an entertaining showcase of performances by Music and Drama students.  Congratulations to all students involved – your performances were outstanding. A special thank you to our accompanist David Shaw, Mitch Coulton and his team for sound production and streaming services and also our hosts for the evening, Anna-Louise Limbers and Cale Slack-Smith. Footage of individual performances will be sent to students in the coming weeks.

Year 8 Music Industry Masterclass

A group of Year 8 students have spent Week 8 learning how to write, record and produce their own music with Performing Arts teacher, Mr Sebastian Key.  They have been learning beat making, recording techniques and virtual instrument programming to bring music to life, using industry standard recording software and technology.

Junior School Music Collaboration

Mr Key and Mrs Sinclair had a wonderful day with Year 6 students who recorded their farewell song. In a fabulous example of collaboration between the Senior and Junior schools, Mr Key recorded a performance that Year 6 and Mrs Sinclair have been working on in class.  Mr Key set up room 68 as a recording studio and mixed and mastered the recording which will be available to families soon.

Co-curricular Ensembles 2021

Congratulations to all our wonderful students who have persisted in their various ensembles through a year of disruptions and restrictions, without the joys of being able to perform together. Performing Arts staff members have been grateful for your tenacity and willingness to simply ‘get on with it’ amongst all this year’s uncertainty and are hopeful that 2021 will allow us more opportunities for regular rehearsals and performances.

A timetable of Co-Curricular Ensembles for 2021 is being finalised and will be sent in the New Year.

2021 Instrumental/Vocal Tuition

Tuition forms to enrol for instrumental and vocal lessons in 2021 have been sent out with this semester’s reports. There is also a link below.  Please complete the form and return to the Performing Arts office as soon as possible, either as a hard copy or by email performingarts@kws.nsw.edu.au. Timely return of these forms assists us in planning and allocating lesson times for the coming year and is hugely appreciated. If your child is not currently enrolled in lessons and you wish to enrol for 2021, please complete this form and we will contact you with details in the new year.
