Take Home Readers

As we are at the beginning stages of our new InitiaLit Reading and Spelling program, home reading will change slightly as we begin to use decodable texts to complement our new reading approach. Stay tuned for more information about decodable readers in the weeks once we have purchased the correct supplies. In the meantime, students will continue to bring home the school’s current readers. Students are encouraged to continue daily reading a range of text types at home. From week 4 onwards students will be asked to record their reading in their reading diaries. Next week students will complete a variety of screening assessments to establish groupings for instruction and reading levels for take home readers. In the meantime, use the below guide to help your child pick a ‘good fit’ book for home reading.
