Road Safety Presentation

Constable Mathew Graham from Young Police visited the school on Wednesday to speak to students in Year 2 to 8 regarding road safety. Since the opening of the new Boorowa Skate Park, there has been a spike in road safety-related 'near misses' with Boorowa Central students when travelling to and from school and when using the skate park. The children seem to be so eager to get to their destination that they forget the basics of road safety. Constable Graham reminded the students about the importance of Stopping, Looking, Listening and Thinking before crossing the road. He also addressed appropriate behaviour at the skate park and wearing a helmet. The students enjoyed the presentation and will now 'hopefully' make better decisions when travelling to and from school.

NAIDOC Day celebrations

On Thursday 3 December Boorowa Central School celebrated NAIDOC day. The day began with a smoking ceremony and was followed by workshops for all of the students to learn more about Wiradjuri indigenous culture. The students participated in face painting, artefact exploration and more. All students enjoyed the day and were a credit to the school. Thank you to Wiradjuri Echoes for this experience.

Year 10 Work Experience

All of Year 10 have been at Work Experience this week. Some have been working within the local community and others have taken the opportunity to travel to Young, Cowra, Canberra and even Sydney to experience a potential future career. We have students exploring careers in the following areas this year: teaching, teacher aiding, vets, interior design, kitchen operation and metal fabrication. All of the students have found the experience valuable in determining if this is the career for them and what that job entails.

Primary Excursion

Students in Years 3-6 have thoroughly enjoyed their Boorowa end of year excursion on Thursday and Friday. Whilst it wasn't the original excursion that was planned, Mr Stuart and Miss Halls did a fantastic job of planning a fun and action-packed 2 days. When I left the Hall on Thursday night the kids were excitedly settling down for an evening of whispers, minimal sleep and cranky teachers. Their faces said it all on Friday morning when many tired eyes were refreshed as they bombed and dived their way into the pool. Thank you to the staff who volunteered to supervise on the night.

Presentation Day next Week

As you are all aware by now, the annual Boorowa Central School Presentation Day Assembly is being held on Thursday 10 December 2020. It is strictly a staff and student event only. The event will be live-streamed on our Facebook page for all family and friends who cannot be with us on the day to share the celebration. We will be taking formal photos that will be shared also. I look forward to the event despite the restrictions.

It's not long now until Santa arrives - get excited!

Only 5 weeks until Christmas
