Principal's News

Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members

As we move into week five of Flexible and Remote learning I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for the tremendous work you are doing in this unprecedented time.

We are making history! Never before in the history of Victorian Education has teaching and learning been delivered in this way; so we are all doing this for the very first time.

Our staff have done an incredible job. They have worked so hard to build online learning. They have stayed in touch with their students and ensured that they are continuing to teach and that students are continuing to learn.

Our students have adapted to a new way of teaching and learning. They have continued to learn. They've engaged with our learning platforms, See-saw for P-2 and Google Classroom for 3-9, they've asked  questions, stayed connected and followed our on-line expectations.

Our parents and carers have supported both their children and our staff, often whilst juggling their own work. We really appreciate your efforts. Please  remember that no one expects parents to be a subject matter expert or a  teacher. The most important thing you can do is to continue to provide comfort, support and encouragement to your child. All we ask is that you continue to help your child to learn from home by working with us and supporting your child as they undertake the activities provided.

We ask that you encourage your child to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • regularly monitor digital platforms for announcements and feedback from their teachers
  • do their best work by completing tasks with integrity and academic honesty
  • do their best to meet timelines and due dates
  • communicate openly with their teachers and tell them if they have any concerns or issues
  • collaborate and support their classmates
  • continue to abide by their school’s behaviour guidelines.

We acknowledge that you have all been working so hard. We are very aware that staff and students are spending a lot of time on line and are experiencing the effects that go with that; fatigue, tired eyes, sore neck and back, and sometimes headaches.

As a response to this we have decided to introduce changes to how we teach on Fridays. Commencing this this Friday, 15 May, our teachers will be encouraging students to complete tasks which do not require the use of computers. Teachers will set challenges, activities and provide opportunities for students to catch up on work that they haven't completed throughout the week. Our staff will be using this time to plan, assess, attend Professional Learning sessions, commence the reporting process and attend to other tasks as required.

Each sub-school Principal will communicate the expectations for their sub- school.
