NAPLAN 2022

Nathan Wallace

This year our year 7 & 9 students will participate in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) from May 10-16 (weeks 3-4). Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual NAPLAN tests in reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The assessment provides parents and schools with an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process – it does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance.

Parents can access further information about NAPLAN at: NAPLAN – information for parents and carers

Our students completed a practice test last term to prepare them for how to use the online platform, as these students haven’t completed NAPLAN since 2018. They are familiar with the schedule and ready to ‘give their best effort’.

Students are reminded to:

  • bring their netbooks to each test (remember to charge them each night);
  • bring a set of headphones for the NAPLAN writing, conventions of language and numeracy tests;
  • persist throughout each test (they are adaptive- try to answer every question);
  • take pride in your effort (we look forward to celebrating your learning growth).
  • If parents would like to experience what students do in their NAPLAN testing, you are welcome to attempt some NAPLAN style questions on the public demonstration site: Public demonstration site (nap.edu.au)
