VET Hospitality

In Hospitality this year, Year 10 students have had experience making and preparing sandwiches, including the famous 'Club Sandwich'.  We have learnt new skills including:

  • Different styles of chopping (claw and bridge )
  • How to create an appealing sandwich
  • How to be a safe food handler
  • Hygiene practices including personal and physical
  • Dates and labelling
  • Cross contamination (using the right colour boards )

We recently had an Open Evening at the College. We were given the opportunity to wear our chef outfits and make and provide food for our classmates. We made some delicious spaghetti, garlic bread and Oreo muffins. Ms Downie taught us some tips and tricks to add some icing in piping bags and decorate the muffins using different techniques. VET Hospitality is a very fun class and very enjoyable.

To Year 9 students, I recommend choosing it as a subject for Year 10 since you learn a lot about cooking and you are supported by my favorite teacher, Ms Downie.
