Year 9

It has been an honour and privilege to take on the role of Year Level Leader over the past few weeks and I look forward to witnessing what students can achieve and the experiences we can share for the remainder of the year.

During a recent pastoral session, I asked the students ‘What is the best part of being in Year 9?’ We had a range of responses. However, they all linked back to the unique space of the Kildare Centre. I have since witnessed the blessing of the homely atmosphere and flexible spaces and furniture, that brings about opportunities for students and staff to engage and build community.

The Year 9 cohort continues to persist through the ups, downs, opportunities and challenges of 'post-COVID' school life, with amazing resilience and outstanding manners.

Throughout the events of the last few weeks, including the BRIDGES CERES excursion, College production rehearsals, the House Athletics Carnival and Camp preparations, I have been impressed by the poise, gratitude, and desire students have displayed to give learning their best effort.

In preparation for Term 2, parents and students will need to take note of the following:

  • The BRIDGES Program and Duke of Edinburgh Camps will take place 26 to 29 April. Please see the PAM communication for more information.
  • Parents are required to also complete medical and dietary information by Friday 8 April at https://portal.thesummit.net.au/
  • Students will need multiple outfits of warm and practical clothing for outdoor activities, especially ones that may involve climbing, dirt and water!

I pray that the Year 9 students and families have a blessed and safe, Easter and holiday break.

Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh Award

Our Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh Award students are off on their overnight Practice Journey to Phillip Island in the first week of next term. We wish them all the best as they prepare to cook meals on trangias, hike the Bass Coastal Walk and sleep out in tents (some for the first time). Fingers crossed the weather is kind to us!
