House Athletics Carnival

On Monday 4 April the whole school gathered at Duncan McKinnon Reserve for our annual House Athletics Carnival. The day was filled with lots of fun and laughter and we were glad to see everyone competing after missing the carnival over the last couple of years. The 'race was on' and there was competitive energy as each House was trying to take out the win.

The costumes from the Year 12 students were amazing and it was great to see the House spirit at an alltime high! We had high levels of participation from all year levels and it was great seeing everyone getting involved in the events. Events included the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, Discus, Shotput, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump and Relays.

The scores were closer than they have ever been, the closest overall finish in recent history with 61 points separating first and fourth! This is a testament to everyone who competed in the variety of events.

1st - Brigid on 1026

2nd - Kildare on 1004

3rd - Delany on 989

4th - Tullow on 965

A massive shout out to all the teachers who made this day possible. These things don’t happen on their own and there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes and we couldn't have done it without them.

Congratulations to Brigid house for taking out the win, Delany will get you next time!

SCSA Swimming and Diving

After weeks of training, our Swimming and Diving team got to showcase their talent and hardwork at the SCSA Division 1 Swimming and Diving Carnival at MSAC. With many COVID related changes last minute, it was great to see students jump in and fill the spots in the events.

The medley relays started well with a number of teams placing. The team continued this excellent form through the individual events, freestyle relays and diving competitions with many students placing in their events.

A massive congratulations to all students for their efforts on the night and in the lead up to the competition.

A huge effort to our Intermediate team who won their division, with the Seniors 2nd and Juniors 3rd to finish in 2nd place overall. Our divers also performed very well to finish in 3rd place overall.

Apologies to our divers who were missed in the last newsletter - Chloe Thomas, Ruby Hollier, Ocienne Farquharson, Olivia Roberts, Ruby Douce, Charli Gardner, Sian Francis, Megan Jenkins and Sasha Horan

Good luck to our SCSA Badminton, Senior Indoor Cricket and Senior 3v3 Basketball teams who will all be competing early next term.
