ANZAC Day Parade

After two years of cancellations due to COVID-19, it was fantastic to have the TC Pipes  and Drums Band alongside the Coastal Scottish Pipe Band, march to honour and remember our heros at the Perth CBD ANZAC Day Parade. We were honoured to have TC Old Boy Alisdair McLaren ('96), the Pipe Major of the Grade 1 Western Australia Police Pipe Band, speak to and even complement the boys.

It was wonderful seeing all the hard work and practice come to life. We are always welcoming of new members to the TC Pipes and Drums who aspire to march with the band at important events such as this!

Year 9 Student Leadership

Take Pride

In Year 9 this year, our focus is promoting pride in Trinity College throughout the cohort. In association with this focus, the 9.1 Student Leadership Team interviewed TC Old Boy Carlo Gosatti ('89) on his view about pride in the school. Read up on the interview below.

How has Trinity College influenced your views and morals?

It gave me a good understanding of what morals and ethics are – I learnt that at school. From there I was able to form my own opinions under guidance from my own spirituality that was developed at my time at school. I genuinely feel that my time spent at Trinity has given me the best tools to take on the challenge of being a man for others.

How did you show pride in the school when you were here?

I gave back everything that the school gave me, for example on the sporting field representing the College – in a good sportsman like way; culturally with my work in Christian Service and in Year 12 as a Prefect for the school. When I was representing the school I wore my uniform correctly, both in public such as on the bus and at private functions like school Mass, even on excursions. I did this because I had pride and cared for my school, I didn’t want people to get a bad impression of me or the school. My engagement with the opportunities I was presented with stemmed from my pride in the college and acknowledgement that it would genuinely help me as a person.

Have you continued to show pride in your school even after graduating?

Yes, by sending my sons to the school and supporting my wife as TC Auxiliary President. My engagement with TOBA activities has led me to feel the same pride I did during my school years. I am proudly a TC Old Boy.

Why is it important to have pride in your school?

I think it is important because fundamentally your time at school forms part of your growth as a person and TC facilitated that. Pride in yourself is generated by pride in your surroundings, which includes family and school. It forms community when we all care for the people and places around us.

Prefect Perspectives

Welcome back to the Trinity Community for Term 2! I am Lachie Spencer, Wellbeing Prefect and trust that you all had a restful Easter holidays and feeling recharged. What a quick week it has been to start off our term! Our Junior School started on Tuesday, holding a reverent ANZAC Day service which was recorded for the Senior School to view upon their return on Wednesday.

A sigh of relief could be felt for many as earlier in the week as COVID restrictions were announced as ending. This does still mean that managing positive wellbeing for all continues to be important with the changing landscape upon us. It highlights that postponing the Year 12 Ball was a great decision - meaning that it can go ahead in traditional fashion being held in Gibney Hall and mask free.

Winter fixtures have started off for all boys with our first game against Christ Church set to be the first challenge for our teams. Hoping that the physical fitness as well as the friendships formed in your winter teams are a benefit that everyone enjoys.

Our 2022 College production called, "The Monster in the Maze" is set to take place next week. The cast have spent numerous hours rehearsing, there is much anticipation for the show and tickets are still on sale for what is set to be an awesome performance! Keep striving for your personal best this term and be thankful for the Trinity College community that we are all so fortunate to be part of.
