Junior School

Winter Uniform

It is pleasing to see the boys dressed very smartly in their winter uniforms. Thank you to all parents who made sure their boys were dressed appropriately this week. A reminder to make sure the boys have names written on their new uniforms.

ANZAC Day

On Tuesday we started the day with a very reverent ANZAC Day service with the Year 6s lead by the Year 6 school leaders, Fred Brockett, Ethan Byrne, and Joel Murabito. I was very proud of all the boys who were reverent and actively engaged throughout the ceremony. Mr O’Neill addressed the boys and laid a wreath on behalf of the staff alongside the wreath laid by Ethan and Joel on behalf of the students. A big thank you to Miss Lango who put together a beautiful recording of the event to share with the rest of the school and Junior School parents.

The Monster in the Maze

It is so exciting to have Junior School boys involved in the 2022 College production of 'The Monster In the Maze'. Next week Junior School has been invited to attend a special matinee show on Wednesday afternoon. Boys who are taking part in the production will also be wearing their cast shirts to promote the event on Friday.

Brand New Basketball Ring!

At the end of last year I surveyed all the boys to find out what they wanted to play with at recess and lunch. We were inundated with requests for a basketball ring! A ring and backboard has now been installed in Junior School. It is currently very popular, so we are working on a roster rotating between year groups.

Winter Sports Fixture & Year 4 Football Carnival

Thursday saw the boys play their first winter sports fixture against Christ Church. Throughout the various teams were pleasing results and excellent sportsmanship. All the boys were excited to be representing the College again. The Year 4s enjoyed their Hockey workshops.

Term 2 Calendar

The Term 2 Calendar will be sent home next week. Please display it in a prominent position.

Year 6 Mother's Day Mass & Morning Tea

A Trinity Junior School highlight each year is the wonderful celebration of Mother’s Day that takes place with the Junior School Mass and morning tea. This year we have planned the event around the current restrictions, although things are changing and restrictions lifting, we will go with our planned Year 6 Mother’s Day Mass. We  look forward to sharing Mass and morning tea with our Year 6 Mums and Grandmothers. The Mass will be at 8.40am on Friday, 6 May. Information will be sent out to Year 6 Mums this week and a recording of this lovely Mass will be made available to share with all our Junior School Mums.

Tucker's Tally Board

As we begin this term, it is exciting to be using our new Tucker’s Tally Board. As boys are rewarded with Excellence Cards for good behaviour, hard work, showing kindness or respect for others, and other positive actions, they receive a house token. These tokens are then added to their house tally board which we have named in honour of Mr Tucker who initiated this project.

Assemblies

Junior School staff and students will be so happy to see parents attending our assemblies once again. This Friday we will continue on from Term 1 with three mini assemblies conducted between 2:15 and 3:00pm. From next Friday we will once again have our assemblies in the under-cover area with all classes attending. Parents very welcome to join.

Prefects Corner

By Fred Brockett and Japser Nutt

What an amazing week it was! Our first week back was very exciting, being able to see friends after the Term 1 holidays.

We had our first winter sport fixture against Christ Church Grammar School, and there were a lot of good games played. The new basketball ring received special attention from the Year 6s, and we had an influx of new and returning teachers including Mrs Stalley, Mrs Roger and Mr Riley.

Mr Tucker’s Tally Board is up to keep track of house points. Remember to hand in your excellent cards to Ms Temmen for house points and a potential reward at the end of the term.

The school production of 'The Monster in the Maze' by Jonathan Dove is coming up next week with the matinee for the Junior School on the 4th of May. The Monster in the Maze has never been produced in Australia before.
