National Simultaneous Reading Time

Next Wednesday over 1 000 000 children join together to read simultaneously. Every year a picture book written and illustrated by an Australian is chosen. Next week we join together with other children in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country and read Family Tree. Now in its 22nd successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.

Premier's Reading Challenge

Many children have entered their first books in the Reading Challenge. It is fantastic to see so many enthusiastic children reading. All children should have received their Login but if you know your child is having difficulty encourage them to see me. It would be great if we could have as many children as possible to complete this challenge. Remember it is a challenge not a competition which encourages children to read a varied range of books.
