From the Principal

Week 1 Term 2 2022

Dear parents and carers

Welcome back to Term 2. I trust the holiday period was enjoyable for all.

Easter Reenactment

Students, staff and parents gathered together to commence the term to reenact the final  scene  of HOLY WEEK ( Jesus has Risen). It was a wonderful way to commence the term and the children who presented the reenactment were amazing. Thank you to Bernadette Reed who coordinated the whole Reenactment ( Last Friday of term as well as last Tuesday)

Cross Country

Tomorrow we will be conducting our whole school cross country event down at Mrytle park. There is a possibility of rain in the the afternoon so I ask that you please  check your emails or messages for any updates. If you wish to collect your child from Mrytle I ask that you please email your childs teacher to let them know. This is important as only these children will be bringing their bags to the park.

Children can wear their coloured sports top ( green red yellow blue) to school.

The Parents and Friends have kindly donated 5 Marquees to the school through Fundraising money. These will be unveiled tomorrow along with the names of the sporting houses.

The process to name the houses has been extensive with representatives from the

P and F, Ed Board, sports captains along with Fr John involved in the process.  Thank you to everyone involved.

School Photos

Schools Photos will be held on Tuesday May 3rd.  I am aware that some families are still struggling to obtain the winter uniform so all children are to wear their summer uniform for these photos.

Congratulations

Congratulations to James and Alison on the arrival of Benjamin David Carbines who was born early on Friday 8th April. Everyone is doing well.

Mothers Day Dinner

Our Annual Mother's Day Dinner will be held on Wednesday 4th May. Thank you to the Parents and Friends for organising this event for our Mother's. I know it will be a great evening.

COVID Update

Face masks

From 11:59 pm Friday 22 April, face masks, while recommended, are not required in any school setting. This means students in grades 3 to 6, staff and visitors in primary schools are no longer required to wear face masks. Any student or staff member who wishes to wear a mask may do so, including those who are medically at-risk.

Rapid antigen test screening requirements

Students who have tested positive for COVID-19, and have completed their 7-day isolation period, now do not need to undertake rapid antigen test (RAT) screening for 12 weeks after their release from isolation. This was previously 8 weeks.

Household contacts

Students who are household contacts of a COVID-19 case are not required to quarantine. They may return to school as long as they undertake rapid antigen tests (RAT) 5 times during their 7-day period. They are required to notify the school that they are a household contact.

Students aged 8 years and above who are household contacts are required to wear face masks when indoors at school unless they have a valid exemption.

If a student household contact returns a positive RAT result, they must isolate for 7 days.

Vaccination requirements for visitors to schools

Parents, carers and other adult visitors (not performing work) are no longer required to show evidence of two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

RAT screening program reminder

RATs will continue to be supplied for the first 4 weeks of Term 2 to support the early detection of COVID-19 in our school.

The testing recommendations will remain the same this Term for students and staff with:

  • mainstream schools – recommended to test at home twice a week
  • specialist schools – recommended to test 5 days a week at home due to the higher risk of severe illness for medically vulnerable children.

Test can be collected from the office or please email the office if you wish your child to bring them home.

Crossing ( Marwal Avenue)

The council are currently struggling to find a number of crossing  supervisors in our area.

At the moment you will notice that a staff member is  filling in for a crossing supervisor if they are away and can not be replaced.

I remind all families that it is important:

To cross at the crossing, not 5 metres up the road

Park in the allocated areas and follow the street signage

Please be patient

This will ensure the safety of everyone in our community.

Have a great week

Brian
