Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

This is our first Newsletter for Term 2, so I'd like to officially welcome back all students, families and staff and a particularly warm welcome to those who have recently joined the ACS community!

With further easing of COVID restrictions over the holiday's will hopefully see less disruption to school operations, attendance and learning and we have a busy term ahead that's for sure.

Last week on Friday, we took some time to practise what having a 'whole school, face to face assembly' needs to look like. Students did extremely well after a long time between assemblies and we are ready to invite families to attend our next assembly on Friday, May 13th from 2.40 p.m.

District Cross Country

We had 31 students compete in the District Cross Country down at the Eastern Park Gardens.  It was a cracker of a day! (if only we could coordinate our events to have weather like this!).

We are so proud of the effort, determination and Commitment our students showed throughout the day and how they represented Armstrong Creek School. They showed care to not only their peers but to everyone that was running from different schools. They should all be so proud of themselves too.

Congratulations to Tyler in Year 6 who has made it through to the Bellarine and Geelong North Division Cross Country Championships. We wish you all the best!

It was great to see kids still smiling as they were running!

Mother's Day Breakfast

On Thursday we were able to conduct our special Mother's Day Breakfast, onsite and in person at school.

It was great to be able to have many Mums, Aunties, Nanas/Grandmas and other special people attend with their children and enjoy a lovely breakfast and spend some quality time together chatting, reading books or playing games.

Thank you to our Parents and Community Club (PACC) for their efforts in coordinating the event. A lot of work goes into these occasions and it was a really lovely feel to have this happening in our school again.

I'd also like to thank the Dads that attended and supported the serving of breakfast on the day. It was great that our Mums didn't have to serve themselves... and they could kick back and enjoy!

Schools Plus - 2022 Flood Recovery Appeal

On the last day of Term 1, our Student Representative Council organised a Casual Clothes Day to raise much needed funds for the Schools Plus 2022 Flood Recovery Appeal. We raised a whopping total of $803! This is the largest amount of money ACS has ever raised from a fundraiser!

Thank you for your generosity and showing support for schools in much need of our help. Well done ACS!

Birthdays

Birthdays are a very special and exciting time and to celebrate with friends at school is even better! At ACS we want to make sure that students having birthdays are recognised and celebrated.

Please be aware that each Learning Community will make every effort to acknowledge and make students feel special on their birthday. We do; however, ask that families do not send food, balloons (etc.) into school.

There are many reasons for this including dietary and health related considerations. It is also very complex from a school management perspective to coordinate the large number of birthdays that a Learning Community would have with up to 75 possible birthdays!

We have though committed to holding a celebration once a term to recognise all the birthday's in the term. Typically this will be done at the end of term; however, each Learning Community will inform parents of the specific arrangements closer to the time.

Take care and enjoy!
