Stand Tall

On Thursday 27th October 2022 Year 7-10 students will be involved in an excursion to the TRECC to participate in the Stand Tall event. Supported by the State Government the event will provide a unique and proven method of equipping Australian students with the necessary skills of resilience, the strength to stand up to bullying, the keys to motivation, the power of perspective and the benefits of making healthy and effective decisions. This event contains an inspiring line-up of world class speakers. Flyer below.

Social Media and Technology Use

The issues surrounding mobile devices and social media are becoming more prevalent. Therefore, we believe it is crucial for parents to be aware of the dangers and be well educated on how the various platforms work so that you can support your son/daughter to make good choices with these devices.

Parents are highly encouraged to visit  https://www.esafety.gov.au/ as a very helpful resource for information on helping their sons/daughters to protect themselves on devices.

As mentioned earlier in the year we are planning on running two parent sessions with a visiting expert – Marshall Ballantine-Jones on Monday 14th November and Tuesday 15th November. Marshall’s completed a PhD with Sydney University which focussed on reducing the negative effects of pornography and sexualised social media behaviours on adolescents. He is currently the CEO of DigiHelp Publishing.

These sessions will both contain the same content, but we are wanting to allow as many parents to come to these events as possible.

During the school day students will also be engaged in sessions with the same presenter.

Students and parents will learn:

  • how sexualised media influences individuals, society and relationships
  • self-promoting social media behaviours
  • how to reduce the negative effects of pornography exposure
  • the law and online behaviours
  • respectful and consensual relationships.

The parent sessions will be open to all members of the Tamworth community

Parent sessions:

Monday 14th November 5pm BSC Hall

Tuesday 15th November 7pm BSC Hall

Aladdin Jr the Musical

The musical is on this week and there is lots of excitement about it. We are looking forward to seeing all the hard work pay off for those involved. To support the students performing, all students in 7-9 will be attending the matinee performance of the musical on Friday. There will be no charge for students to attend.
