Prayer

WE GATHER

Today is November 2nd. It is the day when Christians have traditionally prayed for the souls of the departed. These Holy Souls, along with the Saints in heaven and the followers of Jesus here on earth are part of the communion of saints. Our prayers and sacrifices offered for their needs are a great act of kindness that helps them along the final steps of their journey

into the fullness of God’s heavenly light. These acts of kindness will never be forgotten. When these holy souls reach heaven, they in turn pray for us in our needs.

WE LISTEN

Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died. For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a human being; for as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ. (1Cor 15:20-22)

WE RESPOND

Dear God, we thank you for your promise of eternal life through the death and rising of Jesus your Son. We entrust to you, on this special day, all our friends and loved ones who have died with confidence in your great mercy for all your children. We make this prayer to you in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen.

WE ARE SENT

Jesus died and rose to give us a share in his gift of eternal life.

Is there someone you pray for who has died?

You can write their name/s on a paper tag in coaching today and return them to the Homegroup bag and these names will be displayed in the Front Office Foyer.

We will continue to pray for these people throughout the month of November, remembering them as a great blessing to us in this life and in the life to come.

Blessings,
