Level 5 Camp

On Monday 3rd October our Grade 5 students and 9 staff all departed for Forest Edge Camp in Neerim East. I attended for the first two days and was very impressed with the facilities and the grounds. Rolling Hills with a river running through them and edged by bushland, provided an ideal setting for an outdoor camp. We were blessed with amazing weather and the sunshine on the first few days provided a very positive atmosphere for our campers.

Rangeview Fair

Our wonderful Parents and Friends Committee led by Saskia and Emma, are working incredibly hard to bring to life our Rangeview Fair for 2023. The purpose of this event is to bring our community together in a way that has not been possible for several years! It will run on Sunday 13th November from 10am - 3pm. There will be rides, live music, food, market stalls, sporting activities and much, much more.....

Thank you to all of the families that donated to the Level Raffle Hampers. These together with a sponsor prize of an adults bike from 99 Bikes, will be drawn on the day. Thank you 99 Bikes!

Our Major Sponsor - Noel Jones Mitcham - has donated $2000 to our Rangeview Fair and has also provided our wonderful Billboards at the gates. Thank you Noel Jones Mitcham!

So save the date in your calendar and invite all your friends - we will see you at the Fair.

Asian Grand Prix - Ballet

Over the school holidays two of our students - Scarlett Graham and Jurie Jung - competed in the Sydney regionals for an international Ballet competition, the Asian Grand Prix. The calibre of dancers was extremely high and we are thrilled to share that both girls along with 4 others from their ballet school have been selected from a large cohort of over 1000 dancers to go to finals in Bangkok.

We are so proud of both Scarlett and Jurie and we wish them the best of luck in their finals later in the year.

Facilities Upgrades

Our Senior Toilet upgrade is almost complete. It was due to be open for the start of term but there were some cracks found in the new hand basins and these had to be replaced. The new date for the completion of these toilets is now the end of Week 2. We will look at a grand opening once they are ready.

The new Inclusive Playground is due to commence construction this term on 14th November. This will involve a section of the oval banks being fenced off and a small site shed and toilet being put in. The playground is due for completion by the end of term.

Our Shade Sail for the Library Deck is still delayed and after consultation with my manager at DET, I have confirmation that this is the case for most schools. Covid delays on importing steel combined with the huge number of schools which took up the Government grant has resulted in this situation. We are now looking at a January date for installation.

Covid Update

We will not be sending home Covid RAT testing kits this term. If your child has symptoms, please test them and if they are positive we recommend that they isolate for 5 days. They can then return to school.  We do have additional supplies of RAT kits at the office – please let us know if you need an additional kit.

We will no longer be notifying the community of positive cases at school. Our school will continue to adhere to the Department of Health’s recommendations to ensure that our school remains a safe environment for our staff and students.

Pupil Free Day

We have one Pupil Free Day this term - Monday 31st October. This is the day prior to Melbourne Cup Day. Our OSH Club will be available for those families that require care. We hope that for some families this may provide the opportunity of a long weekend getaway.

Hats

Don’t forget we are back to wearing hats this term – please send these in with the students to ensure they can play outside and be SunSmart.

We are looking forward to this being a wonderful term and look forward to seeing you all onsite at Rangeview.
