Captains Corner

This week we celebrate World Teachers Day. At DPS we have a variety of great and talented teachers. Our teachers have played a significant role in our lives by educating us about many topics and subjects. They teach us life lessons for the future, as well as teaching us lessons like Maths and Literacy. Here are the School Captains talking about what teachers have been to them.

Lexi- I think a good teacher genuinely cares about their students and tries their best to make everyone feel safe and included. My favourite teachers are the Level 6 teachers. This is because they are supportive and kind. They care about our wellbeing and want the best for us. They give great life advice and demonstrate that life is something that should be enjoyed. The Year 6 teachers let us have fun in an educational and beneficial way. We exercise regularly and spend quality time with our peers. It’s teachers like the ones in Grade 6 that shape the kind and empathetic people in our society.

Weihan- I believe that a good teacher should be kind to all students and tries their hardest to help educate their students. They should include all the students in all activities. My personal favourite teacher is Mr. Johnson. He has always been kind and tried to hardest to keep calm. He has assisted us countless times throughout the year and has always supported us through times of trouble. He is helping us with a great deal as we go from primary school to high school. I will always remember him as one of my favorite teachers of all time.

Isobel-  In my opinion teachers inspire you and help you reach new levels, and do all they can to help you become your best self. I have had quite a few teachers that have been like this, such as Miss P. This year Miss P has taught us our normal lessons, but she has also taught us many life lessons and given us information that will help us later in life. She notices when work isn’t challenging us and gives us work that teaches us more, and has organized a few extension classes for some students. This has really helped many of us grow our knowledge on many subjects, and I will never forget her.

Josh- An example of a great teacher is someone who cares for their students, strives to do their best in however, they need to aid and help and set an example of who a good student would be. The best teacher I have encountered in my education journey is probably Miss Papanastasiou in Grade 6. Miss P is very forgiving, funny and has a great personality. Miss P taught us normal work as well as life lessons and advice of hers to us as we move on to high school and our nearing future. She is very caring and inclusive to her class, as well as other classes and teachers.
