Assistant Principal's Report

Good afternoon everyone, another week flies by at DPS as we approach November. This year has gone by so quickly. It feels as though we'll be discussing Christmas before we know it!  

We've had some exciting things happening recently at DPS such as Incursions and Excursions and lots of fabulous learning in the classrooms and in specialist classes too.

The Level Six students have enjoyed walking to the Apple Store and participating in coding and robotics activities at Westfield. We are so lucky to have the Apple Store willing to host our students and upskill them with the latest technologies. 

Our Level Three students have been completing a physical education series of lessons focussing on gymnastics. I have visited them many times as part of the School Tours and they look like they're having a lot of fun with Mr Spinks. Keep up the great work Level Three.

Our Level Four students have been participating in a Bike Ed Program and I have seen great improvements in their riding skills and their knowledge of safety. I enjoy seeing the students riding around the school in single file as I am hosting School Tours. I have given lots of 'high fives' to the students riding by (in a safe way of course). Thanks to Mr Spinks for providing this activity for our students.

World Teacher's Day

Happy World Teachers Day to the fabulous teachers at DPS. 

This week I asked students and parents to contribute to World Teacher's Day by sending a sentence or two highlighting the best qualities of some of the DPS teachers. I was overwhelmed by the response and the amount of positive feedback I received about each and every teacher here at Doncaster Primary School. Thank you to all of the families that contributed, I know our teachers will love reading these messages. I will be sharing the messages with them on Friday at a morning tea. I have decided to share some of the comments that were sent in by families with you here today, as they were so beautiful: 

Thank you for showing great encouragement and patience. 

Thank you for encouraging my child to communicate in English.

My child has made many friends with the encouragement of the teacher. 

The children are very happy in DPS every day, thanks again to the school and the teachers！

My child is lucky to have this fabulous teacher. They teach science and mathematics, but also teach kindness and patience. 

My teacher encourages me all the time. 

Happy Teachers Day to the best teacher in the world.

I would like to show my gratitude towards all teachers in DPS who have directly or indirectly influenced and supported my son in his journey from Prep. 

I truly believe teachers play more important role in shaping up child's personality than parents. And we can never thank them enough! 

I can not forget the support and guidance I was shown throughout my Primary School years.

You are a born teacher, kids adore you. Thanks for always encouraging my son to be active and play any sport he likes.

Thanks for being an awesome teacher during covid and what a commendable job you did in motivating my child and he exceeded everyone expectations in academics.

I remembers what a fun filled Year Four I had!

Thanks so much for all of your support and they way you prepared my son and the class for NAPLAN.

Thanks to all DPS staff for making this school so special, I feel so lucky that my child has been part of this institute.

Words will fail us to express our deepest gratitude to you for all you have done with your great passion, efforts, kindness and empathy during my son's first year in school. 

Our small family will always remember you as such a great teacher with sense of humour and continues smile. 

My child loves his teacher very much. They helped him with confidence , sense of responsibility and many many other positive life skills. Thank you for everything.

Your authority and guide have helped my son become more confident and a good listener. 

It's all because of your dedication. Thank you all the teachers from DPS!

 This teacher is passionate  and always has ways to help the students become better themselves. 

The teacher understands students' needs and preferences.

Thank you for providing a safe environment for my daughter to grow and be herself. My daughter comes home feeling happy and more confident each day.

This teacher is an inspiring teacher and person in many ways. They take the time to understand the students and has been patient and thoughtful.

This teacher displays empathy and kindness in their approach to teaching. They keep the class morale positive which facilitates a better learning environment.

The teachers have a genuine interest in their students wellbeing both academically and spiritually.

The teacher has always encouraged my son to recognise his strengths and try his best. We will not forget his efforts and influence. 

The encouragement my son received from this teacher was life changing. 

This teacher was the one that brought my son’s reading to the fore and we saw huge developmental leaps in his comprehension and communication.  

The teacher created a space for my son to learn without fear and prepare for high school.

Special mention needs to go to all of the support staff that helped my son as well. They understood my son and what he needed, and helped him understand the world. 

 Thanks to the kindness, generosity and belief of the DPS staff, my son's life has completely transformed.

The teacher showed my daughter a gentle kindness.

 This teacher taught my daughter most importantly to believe in herself.  The care and empathy was life changing for my daughter.

My daughters love of chapter books comes from her Grade Two teacher. The teacher taught her that life should be enjoyed.     

The teacher gave my daughter the confidence to believe in herself, amid the isolation of online learning.  

This teacher has encouraged my daughter to stand up for herself, believe in herself and be proud of who she is and who she will become. 

My daughters transformation has been extraordinary and beautiful, and this comes down to the education, kindness and care shown by the teacher. 

My teacher listens to me, shows genuine interest in my wellbeing and gives me joy.

Thank you for being such an integral part of the transformation of the my children.  May they do you proud in their futures.

You and your class have helped my son become creative. 

You really taught my child to be more confident with himself, and he is learning how to express his feelings better. We are very thankful for everything that you do for him!

My teacher has been a great teacher this year.  The teacher has taught us to do our best and explains things very well that helps me learn many things. The teacher is also kind and funny.  

I feel optimistic about starting a new chapter next year. 

Thank you for being my teacher this year. 

My child enjoys going to school and loves all the lessons and activities.

Thanks to the students and families who sent something through. Your contributions were joyous to read and make me so proud to be a member of the DPS community. Let's continue on this positive path as we approach the 'busy' season and work together to make this year one of the best ones yet.
