Reconciliation Round

Last Saturday the First XI Cricket and First V Basketball players wore our College’s Aboriginal strip created in conjunction with our partner school in Alice Springs, St Joseph’s Flexible Learning Centre.

Both teams read an Acknowledgement of Country prior to the commencement of their fixture. It is always a special occasion for those boys lucky enough to have the opportunity to play in this unique design. I know the boys love it and feel a great sense of privilege. For this reason alone, it is no surprise they recorded convincing wins over opponents St Pius X College in Cricket and Redlands in Basketball.

St Patrick’s College stands in solidarity with all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and acknowledges the Wangal clan of the Dharug people in the greater Eora nation, as well as the Central Arrente people of Alice Springs.

Congratulations

I wish to acknowledge Anthony del Popolo (Year 9) and Vincent Pappalardo (Year 7) on their recent award won at last Saturday night’s NSW Diving Awards Presentation for the 2021/2022 season.

Anthony won First place in U14/15 Boys Division, with Vincent placing Third place in U12/13 Boys Division, First place in Synchronised Diving Male / Mixed Team and was also awarded Most Improved Diver over 13 years old.

We congratulate them on these awards and wish both Anthony and Vincent the best of luck for this weekend’s Metropolitan Diving Championships to be held in Brisbane for the SSA Diving Competition which will take place on 19 November.
