Message from the Principal

Achieving Excellence Together

Dear families,

Term 4 is well underway, with students and staff quickly resuming our learning routines. Student learning and wellbeing remains at the core of our work for the remainder of the school year with an added consideration of ensuring every student is prepared for the transition to their new year level. Later in the term, students will also get the opportunity to be inducted into their new learning groups as part of our whole-school Step-Up day. Until then, staff will continue working to ensure students academic, social and emotional needs are targeted and met. If you have any wonderings about your child’s progress I encourage you to arrange a meeting with your child’s teacher by contacting the front office.

Updated COVID Guidelines in School

The guidelines for managing COVID-19 in schools have been updated in line with the state government announcements last week. The new advice strongly recommends that students:

  • who test positive to COVID-19 stay home and isolate for 5 days
  • should not attend school after 5 days if still symptomatic
  • who are symptomatic but have not tested positive should not attend school
  • advise the school of the COVID-19 positive test result

Furthermore, when students become symptomatic at school they should:

  • be collected by their parents/carers
  • undergo testing for COVID-19

Albanvale Primary School will continue to strong advise the recommendations above and continue with good hygiene practices that have supported us already throughout the pandemic. These include:

  • Increasing ventilation to all indoor spaces including the use of Air Purifiers
  • Encouraging the use of facemasks when social distancing cannot be achieved
  • Encouraging good hand hygiene practices.

We appreciate your support in keeping our community safe.

Parent Opinion Survey

I’d like to express my gratitude to all the families who took the time to complete the annual parent opinion survey last term. The result of the survey has come through and they are overwhelmingly positive demonstrating growth in 6 out of 7 areas. An executive summary will be published in the coming weeks giving our community a greater insight into our results. Our School Improvement Team is now working though the data to decide on what actions we can take to further improve the experience families have when interacting with our schools as we seek to continuously improve on our already exceptionally high standards.
