From the Principal

School is buzzing after our dress rehearsal this morning. The children are awesome - so cute and so funny. There are still tickets available for all three nights, so please encourage your friends and family to attend.

You may have heard on the news that the Ministry of Education has done away with the Decile System and moved to an Equity Index. This means that RidgeView School is now eligible to take part in the School Donation Scheme. In order to join this scheme, I need to consult with the school community. I sent out a Google Form yesterday which should take one minute to complete. You just need to say whether you agree or disagree with us joining the scheme. In answer to queries I have already received, there is no cost to the school and those who would still like to make a donation to the school can most definitely do so.

School is closed on Monday 26 September.

Daylight Savings

Daylight Savings begins on Sunday 25 September 2022. Please put the clock forward by one hour.

Production

Just a reminder that we have shows on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week.

All children need to be at school by 6.30pm each evening.

We expect to finish at about 8.15pm. All children must be collected by a responsible adult.

We are aware that some children are very tired at the moment. If you need to bring your child into school a little late after the show nights, please notify the school office.

Jump Rope Competition

On the last day of school we are going to have a skipping competition at school. This culminates in a jump off where we see who is the champion skipper for each age group. We will be starting at about 2pm and will finish with the grand skip-off at about 1.45pm. We would love you to come along and support the children.

Term 4

Term 4 starts on Monday 17 October at 8.55am. We have lots of exciting activities organised for the children including a trip to do gymnastics, athletics day, and our end of year prizegiving and picnic.

Period Supplies

A couple of our older girls have started their period somewhat unexpectedly. This might be a good time to make sure your child is prepared for what is going to happen. Please also make sure that your child knows that Kalene has supplies in the office. She has daughters of her own and will help your daughter in a sensitive, but matter of fact way.

If your child is sick...

Advice received from the Ministry of Education states that children may return to school:

24 hours after they are symptom free if they have colds or flu
48 hours after they are symptom free if the have diarrhoea or vomiting

Please note that you need to contact the school every day that your child is away as we cannot just assume that your child is still sick.

Headlice and Nits

We have a couple of children with headlice/nits in the school. Please can you check your child and treat if necessary. It is also a good idea for those children with longer hair to keep their hair tied up.

Yummy Stickers

Please send your yummy stickers in over the next two weeks.

Paint for our Murals

I am still looking for test pots or leftover paint for our murals - particularly bright or unusual colours. I will happily take your leftovers to use.

Drink Bottles

We still have a number of children who are not bringing their water bottle to school. Please can you check that they pack it and bring it with them.

Old Mobile Phones and iPads

We are still on the lookout for old phones and iPads.
