Catholic Mission Socktober Fundraiser
During the month of October, we will learn about and support Catholic Mission. On Friday 14 October (Term 4 week 1) we will participate in ‘Sock It to Poverty’ Catholic Mission Fundraiser. Students are invited to wear crazy socks to school and bring in a gold coin donation to support Catholic Mission. This money will help many needy people around the world.
Socktober is a journey towards and celebration of World Mission Month. It is a comprehensive education, formation and fundraising program that engages the heads, hearts and hands of entire school communities in the global work of mission. Socktober uses the world game of soccer to form a connection between students in Australia and the children they support with their fundraising, while also incorporating formation and education components throughout its entire structure. Through Socktober, students are invited to learn about, pray, advocate for and financially support children and communities in need around the world.
Pope Francis' Message for World Mission Sunday 2022
“You shall be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8)
Dear brothers and sisters!
These words were spoken by the Risen Jesus to his disciples just before his Ascension into heaven, as we learn from the Acts of the Apostles: “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth” (1:8). They are also the theme of the 2022 World Mission Day which, as always, reminds us that the Church is missionary by nature.
First Holy Communion
Congratulations to the children in Year 3 who made their First Holy Communion last Sunday 18 September with Fr Patrick.
A special time for them and their families as they receive the Eucharist for the first time and are nourished in their Faith.
Thank you to Mrs Charadia, Mrs Grose, Mrs Birac, Mrs Clarkson and Mrs Smith for supporting the students at these masses.
Fr Patrick and Fr Anthony will join Year 3 students and teachers in the school hall this Friday 23 September at 10:30am to celebrate in prayer and enjoy cake together.
