Christmas Story Art Finalists
Each year, students from Years 5 and 6 from each school in the Wollongong Diocese are invited to enter the competition and exhibition, which celebrates the miracle of Christ's birth and the creative ability of our students to illustrate this story. The six finalists from St Joseph's are:
Year 5: Adelle S, London C and Zoe R
Year 6: Sam M, Torah B and Milla H
Their artwork will go forward to the Wollongong Diocese state of the competition for possible selection into the exhibition at Wollongong Art Gallery. Congratulations to these wonder artists.

Environmental Matters
Earlier this term some students from St Joseph's (Yr 5) and Waniora Public School attended a poetry workshop and tree planting activity with Mrs Parker (Yr 5 teacher), organised by Wollongong Council and Red Room Poetry.
Red Room Poetry, in collaboration with The Australian Botanic Garden, has organised a poetry competition called POEM FOREST. This is a free nature poetry competition that invites teachers and students to use their words to make positive climate action.
For every poem received a tree is planted to help heal habitats and create a POEM FOREST for future generations.
Various grades at St Joseph's are currently working on their poems to submit for this wonderful initiative. Any student can enter - the details can be found on the following
website:
Coal Magazine has an article about the fantastic experience Yr 5 students were involved in.
Kindergarten Science Experiment - ‘Growing Bean Plants’
Kindergarten students have been exploring the characteristics, needs and uses of living things, such as plants. Their Year 5 buddies were very helpful and supported them with this fun science experiment.
Kindergarten students recognise that plants also have basic needs, so they continue to ensure that the plants get plenty of water and sunlight. They were so excited to see them sprout!
