JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS

Daniel Grozdanovski

Year 7 Coodinator

Just like that we are at the pointy end of Term 2. A couple of important weeks coming up for the Junior Sub School as we lead in to the Mid-year break.

Exams

Year 7 and 8 exams will be upon us before we know it. They will be conducted during week 7 (6 June to 9 June) and the timetable has been shared with students, but now is the time to start their preparations. Revision is also crucial. Small but regular interaction with class notes and homework is far more effective for knowledge retention than cramming the day before an exam.

IMPORTANT: Materials will NOT be provided to students during the exam period. Students must come prepared with all the required materials including pens, pencils, erasers, calculators and any other necessary items for specific subjects.

Mainstream Exams - English and Mathematics (50 minutes)

SEAL Exams- Science, Humanities, Mathematics and English (100 minutes)

Semester Two Changeover

Students will begin Semester two classes at the beginning of Week 9. This means that students will receive new timetables with their new electives. Core subjects will remain the same with languages and electives changing for our Year 7 students. Students should be prepared for these classes making sure that they have all the stationary and books required. If they need any assistance they can see the Junior Sub School for any materials.

Robbie Noggler Community Police Officer Presentation

Robbie came to the school on Friday 27 May to present to our Year 7 and 8 students on a variety of current issues facing our students. Robbie is an engaging presenter and seemed to really capture a lot of the students attention during the presentation. The main focus of the presentation was around cyber safety and how our students are using technology. He gave the students some great advice on how they can be safer online and make sure they are using their devices responsibly. I would also like to encourage parents to have conversations with their child about the presentation and see what important information they took from it.

Headspace Presentation

Next week students will have a presentation from Headspace to talk about mental health/bullying/looking out for each other and ways we can look after our own wellbeing. This will be another great opportunity for our students to take away some strategies to support themselves and their peers here at school. Teaching and Student wellbeing staff will be present to help support students throughout the session.
