Prep

This Term in Prep we will begin learning all about different materials and their properties.  We started our learning journey by sorting a box of common items into our three coloured school bins.  This activity lead to some valuable discussions about how we can sort our waste into categories ready to either recycle or send to the rubbish tip.  It would be useful to follow up discussions about sustainability and recycling at home with your child too.

We will continue to study different materials and discuss their properties. The students will learn to make conclusions about why we use certain materials to make various things (I.e bricks are used to make houses because of their strength and durability). We will also discuss different textures of items and sort and classify materials based on how they feel. 

Grade 1/2

This Term in Grade 1 and 2 we began our learning with a unit on Coding. Students are using a program called Code.org to demonstrate their learning. The skills we will cover are; navigating safari to locate the website, logging in and out of the program, creating a code using directional buttons, using a repeat block to simplify a code and creating a loop in a code. This will be our Learning Task for the term and the students are doing exceptionally well so far! Keep up the great work 1/2s!
