Grade 3 - 4

Naplan 

Special mention to all our grade 3 students who completed Naplan tests last week. Your teachers are extremely proud of you and hope you all feel very proud of yourselves!

Reading 

We have been busy in our reading sessions identifying the differences between the 2 main types of genres, that being Fiction and Non-Fiction. Students have been completing activities working on their knowledge of the different types of both Fiction and Non Fiction text types. 

Writing 

Students have been demonstrating their knowledge of Narrative texts. Students have been using their Writer’s Notebooks to help them extend their knowledge and understanding of how to write an interesting Narrative Story on a range of different topics.

 

Maths 

This week we have been working on our place value next steps in learning. Students have loved being able to work with students from the other ¾ classes. The students have been using a range of different hand ons resources this week. 

 

Humanities 

The grade 3’s started Humanities this week after using this time to prepare for Naplan. They have been working on identifying and labelling Australian states and Territories. Our year 4’s have been comparing and contrasting using a Venn diagram of Australia's neighbouring countries.  

Basketball 

We were lucky this week to have a player from the Melbourne Phoenix Basketball team come and teach us some Basketball drills.
