Work Experience

Year 10 Work Experience

As a requirement of the SACE Stage 1 subject PLP all Year 10 students are expected to participate in at least 25 hours of workplace learning. Information regarding the requirements has been previously shared with students and families. PLP teachers have been impressed with the student's enthusiasm for this task and some of the placements they have found already. We would appreciate parents discussing some possible options for placements with their children and encouraging them to commence or continue the processes of finding a placement and completing the necessary forms. We would like the forms returned to the College in Week 5 of this term.

We encourage the students to find a placement during Week 10 of Term 2 (July 4th -8th); however, other times may be negotiated with Annie Fitridge

Students should also check with their work experience provider regarding any necessary certificates or other requirements needed for the placement. It is a preference that your child does not work directly with you at this time as we encourage them to expand their circle of contacts, gain confidence in communicating with a wide range of different people and develop skills in independence and self-reliance. Students who currently have paid work may choose to use this to fulfill the requirements of this task. We have a back-up plan for students who may find work experience difficult. This should be discussed with the PLP teacher. Please contact the College if you have any questions regarding the Work Experience Program.

Students in Year 11 and 12 may also negotiate Work Experience through Annie Fitridge and must complete the necessary forms prior to the placement.
