Year 7 News

During Term 2, the focus for our Year 7 student group was on giving students an opportunity to explore some of the different programs our school has to offer. It was really fantastic to see students participating in many different activities at our College.

We saw students participate in leadership planning days, the EXCEL Challenge Day, Junior Performing Arts Showcase, Sporting teams, student led assemblies and class activities. We also saw our students begin to really embrace their learning. NAPLAN online was a success with all students coming away feeling positive about their contributions on the day.

At this point in their school year, let’s hear from one of our student leaders about how they feel they have developed since the beginning of Year 7.

"Half a year already!! I never thought Year 7 would go by this fast. From Term 1 all the way to this day, Year 7 has already created so many memories that I won't be forgetting anything soon. I can't wait for Semester 2!"

Looking forward to Term 3: to start off the term we are having all students participate in a Year 7 “Connections” Day.

Year 7 students will be involved in day of activities that promote connections between all students in the cohort.  The day will include:

Wellbeing activities - facilitated by our onsite wellbeing staff and will cover character strengths, coping skills and problem solving

RALLY presented by Project Rocket - RALLY empowers students to create a culture that challenges bullying, online and in person. Students are equipped with socially credible strategies to take action and unite together, instead of standing by and watching.

Team building challenges - working with our peer support leaders, students will tackle various challenges in a cooperative manner that encourages school spirit and demonstrates our school values.

Students are invited to join staff and fellow students for a Sausage Sizzle at lunchtime outside the Year 7 Centre.

We are very much looking forward to this day and starting the semester off on such a positive vibe.
