Library Displays

Thank you to our Library Team members

Ruby and Ryan for another great display showcasing our new 'Genre' stickers which are being placed on all books within our fiction collection.

This will help students to identify the genres of each book as they glance along the shelves and enable them to select the best book for them - mystery, fantasy, historical, horror romance, sport, humour, dystopian, sci-fi, etc.

We have also set-up a 'Wheel of Reading'  whereby students can spin to see which genre it lands on and then select from titles within that genre.

Our displays this term also showcase a selection of books within our collection as we support our MESC Pride and Allies group (who meet in the library each Tuesday lunchtime) in their goal of raising awareness and creating conversations on IDAHOBIT Day

Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge 2022

The 2022 Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge (VPRC) is now open and students participating are enjoying the challenge it offers them.  They have read a total of 88 books so far and it's great to see them encouraging each other, sharing books they have enjoyed with reviews, and talking about their favourites.

The challenge finishes on 2nd September and all students who complete it will attend a special morning tea to celebrate.

Book Reviews

Encyclopaedia of Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Life - by Riley 7F

A very informative text, with lots of great facts. At the time I read this I didn`t have anything to read. I`m glad I didn`t as I learnt so many cool and interesting facts about dinosaurs, other prehistoric life, and really early humans. My favourite part of this whole text is finding out where dinosaurs lived. There are a lot more dinosaurs that lived in Australia than I thought. A great text. Would read again.

Star Wars: Uprising - by Nicholas 7A

This book continues the story from Luke Skywalker as he continues his adventure to being a Jedi. This story is from a movie series from the Star wars movie "A New Hope". This version is way more detailed and explains the story in a way to understand. In my opinion I love this book. So if you like join the adventure.

Heartstopper, Volume 4 - by Charli 8B

This was such a good book and series - I liked how the book talked about mental health and also about important subjects like how love can't heal mental health. I also liked how Nick stood his ground to his dad in the end of the book.  This volume was definitely not the happiest one out of the series but definitely an important one to have as it answered a lot of questions.

Thank you Charli, Nicholas and Riley great reviews (completed as part of the VPRC) - please continue to add your own reviews to our Library catalogue for others to see and enjoy.
