HANDS ON LEARNING/CAMPS
HANDS ON LEARNING
Hands on Learning were lucky enough to chicken sit over the school holidays. We still have the lovely ladies and they have been enjoying being let out to have a scratch and dust bath around the Hands On Learning area. Everyone has been enjoying having them wander around, they even come to see what’s happening in the hut. We are making good progress on the fencing adjacent to the chicken coop and hope to have this fully enclosed within the month, giving the ladies (chickens) a nice secure area on the Monday and Tuesday when HoL isn’t running. Last week, 3 of the students planted kangaroo paws and grasses creating a new garden bed which was previously only grass and weeds.
YEAR 9 - OUTDOOR EDUCATION CAMP - SHOREHAM
YEAR 12 VCAL - BUSHWALKING CAMP
The Year 12 VCAL students were given the chance to go on a very immersive and intense 20km walk from Waterfall Gully to the Cape Schanck lighthouse. At 8:45am on Monday morning (21st March), the year 12 Outdoor Education students met up at school to take a bus to Waterfall Gully Road where we set off at 11am. From there, we started our very long and some would say a bit tiring adventure. Most of the walk was in a forest setting with hills and bushland. We got to the campsite well ahead of schedule, that’s just how amazing the year 12 students are! This was handy as we were able to set up and play games nice and early. Everyone was really supportive of each other, especially when people were lagging a little behind. In my opinion, I feel like it was a bonding experience as well, one I was not really expecting to happen either which made it a bit better. I hope that the in the future, the next years VCAL Outdoor Ed students are able to do that camp as it was fun, informative, with beautiful places to see.
