Year 12 News
Glen Eira College is very proud of our Year 12 results (study scores and ATAR). A big part of this success and improvement is the way in which students perform on the end of year exams. We believe that exposing students to working under exam conditions is extremely important. Therefore, students will be undertaking end of unit 3 school-based examinations from Tuesday 14th June to Thursday 16th June. So, it is extremely important that students properly prepare themselves for the upcoming examinations. Part of the preparation is looking after their physical and mental health. If your son/daughter has any ongoing issues which inhibits their learning, I encourage you to discuss these with the wellbeing team at GEC, Mr Micallef or myself.

Year 10 News
What a semester we have had…. A full semester of classes, no online learning – YAY!!, with a great camp thrown in for some added excitement for our Year 10 students. We took 113 students away to The Summit Camp in Trafalgar East, for five days of fun, activity and personal development. We were blessed to have great weather, the sun shining every day, gorgeous sunsets and chilly nights.
Many students took the opportunity to move out of their comfort zones and participate in many of the activities on offer. This included, high ropes, patting snakes, abseiling, laser skirmish, the flying fox, monster run and the giant swing, just to name a few. Even Ms Brancatella and I tried the giant swing to the merriment of everyone there. Some screaming may have been heard far and wide.
The photos below show many of our students taking part in all that was on offer. They exceeded my expectations through their commitment and involvement. I am so proud of so many of those students who stretched their boundaries and completed tasks that they thought were impossible at the beginning.
In the next couple of weeks, all students will be finalising their semester units and preparing to sit their mid-year exams. An exam timetable has been published online, for the Year 10 exams running in week 8. During this exam period, students are expected to come to school only for their scheduled exams and then go home when they do not have an exam for the rest of the day. There will be no scheduled classes during the exam week. Preparation for the exams is important and to that effect, all senior school students get a SWOT Vac day on Friday 10th June. This combined with the Queen’s Birthday public holiday on Monday 13th June gives students a block of four solid days to revise, study and prepare for their exams.
Good luck to all.
Remember: Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.
