Aboriginal Education Update.

This week we celebrated NAIDOC week. This is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their Cultures.

We were all very grateful to have had many new experiences this week. These included a smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country with Uncle Moogy, cooking with traditional foods, making feather flowers, Nunga bands and presentations from room 5.

On Wednesday the Aboriginal students presented the NAIDOC week assembly. They explained the meaning behind NADIOC,  shared research of influential and inspiring Aboriginal leaders - Bunggaree, Eddie Mabo and Vincent Lingiari  and sang for us in language.

We would like to thank Aunty Judy for her support with the smoking ceremony and to Carly's mum for baking a delicious treat for the whole school!
