Principal Report

End of a bizarre term!

Term 3 Restrictions

The beginning of term three will continue as we've ended term two.

Due to recent Victorian occurrences of Coronavirus, we remain in a 'State of Emergency',

therefore we will maintain current restrictions, applicable to students, staff, families & community members.  Our next key date for consideration of lifting or increasing restrictions is Friday 24 July (week 2 of term 3).

Continued restrictions include, but are not limited to:

  • staggered start & end times
  • staggered recess & lunch times
  • preferred F-2 & 3-6 entry points to school
  • Foundation parents only permitted on-site, unless you report to administration
  • strict student & staff hand sanitising processes
  • staff social distancing; and
  • no congregations of students larger than class sizes

I sincerely thank all school linked community members for their ongoing kind & considered ways during this unprecedented pandemic.

It is crucial, we all stay safe and healthy, and if we display cold and / or flu symptoms, we consider everyone's safety by self-isolating.

COVID-19 still exists in Victorian communities.

Mid-year Reports

Tomorrow, families will receive their student mid-year reports.  The reports have a vastly different look and feel to their usual representation.

Please take the time to read, not only your child's report comments, the explanation of remote learning and the necessary layout, but also the content descriptors to assist in the context of the teacher comments.

Please enjoy reading the comments alongside your child, and celebrate their achievements.  Your positive messaging will set them up for term 3 growth and success.

All reports should arrive to families prior to 5:00 pm.

2020 School Fees

At the mid-point of the school year, final school fee payments should be made.  There is an accompanying explanation on the Administration page in today's newsletter to support all families on how and when payments should be made and what for!

I know you would all recognise the relative small cost of primary schooling, compared to pre-school, kindergarten, secondary or tertiary fees.  Please support us in supporting your child/ren with paying fees.

It makes an incredible difference to the resourcing and experience of each and every child.  They matter to us and I know they matter to you.

We are currently sitting at just below 60% of fees paid - this is potentially due to restrictions, which I acknowledge and understand.  If you haven't paid, please address this as soon as practical for your family.  Bpay, Eftpos (either at school office or via phone) and cash are options.

School Review

Today, we begin our School Review process.  There is a panel assembled to meet over a four day process, including School Council representatives.

The important work behind a successful School Review, to set our path forward in the coming four years, needs to factor contributions from all stakeholders in having a voice.

Our reviewer from Monash University, Graham Broadbent, will seek input from school councillors, challenge partners (education experts, such as Principal's from nearby schools), Senior Education Improvement Leaders, students, staff and parents.

That's where you come in!  I'm seeking parents, willing to offer thoughts and insights.

Monday 24 August at 9:00 am (drop off time), I am seeking willing participants to remain at school and have an informal group conversation with our Reviewer, Graham Broadbent.  It is very easy, you only need offer thoughts and opinions on what you feel comfortable and the only pre-requisite is to have a child or more enrolled at our school.

Please email me directly if you are willing to assist - dale.power@education.vic.gov.au

I would truly appreciate any support (without having to beg!) and require approximately 12.

Holidays!

Please all enjoy a restful and safe holiday period over the Winter break.

Early dismissal this Friday is 2:30 pm for all students - please be respectful of social distancing.

We look forward to seeing you all on Monday 13 July for term 3.

I acknowledge the First People of the Wathaurong, who are the traditional custodians of the land and waters on which I work and live, and pay my respects to the Elders of the past, present and emerging.
