Aerobics National Champions

Aerobics National Champions

On Sunday the 26th of August, Mornington Secondary College’s Senior Aerobics team, the ‘MSC Dream Team’, competed at the National Championships held on the Gold Coast.

The team is made up of Jasmine Tostovrsnik, Hannah Richards, Kira Whitehouse, Imogen Goodall, Lauren Howarth (Year 11), Rachel Sullivan and Amanda Inglis (Year 10).

Most of the girls have been competing together in Aerobics since Year 7, where they placed 2nd at Nationals. The girls have reached a national level on two subsequent occasions but have not placed since Year 7.

So after having been undefeated at the Preliminary and State finals earlier this year, the girls were hopeful to bring home their first ever gold medal from Nationals.

They have been working extremely hard all year on their most challenging routine to date, with incredible choreography from captain, Jasmine Tostovrsnik.

The girls performed brilliantly on the day in a tight competition, where 3rd and 4th place were separated by merely .03 points!

With a suspenseful, heart-pounding build up during the medal presentations, MSC Dream Team were finally announced the winners! With a whopping score of 88.1, beating second place, and their State score, by two points and receiving the highest score of any competitor on the day out of over 60 performances!

This is an absolutely incredible achievement for the girls who have shown such determination and perseverance over their five years of competing.

The girls (and coaches!) were absolutely thrilled and are still buzzing weeks on! They have certainly done themselves and our school community extremely proud!

A huge congratulations to each of the girls who have demonstrated that with hard work and commitment, no goal is out of reach.
