Dalet Medieval Feast

Take a step back in time ... several hundred in fact...

Hear ye, Hear ye! On Tuesday September 11, the Dalet Class feasted like it was 1384. Goblets and chalices were charged with ale (ginger beer) and mead (grape juice), and bowls were filled with delicious medieval pottage (hearty stew). In pride of place nestled among leaves, lay the proverbial boar’s head—a wonderfully decorated cake by Mrs. Moritz! Our honoured guests were treated to an afternoon of dancing, an original history play written by Nathanael, and jokes by our court jester, Cooper. From royalty all the way to lowly serfs, each member of the manor (Dalet class) contributed to our fascinating program, delicious meal, and sumptuous table decorations. A highlight was the grace, shared by Sienna, taken from a hymn written in the 5th century by the Christian poet Prudentius:

Without Thy presence, nought, O Lord, is sweet,

No pleasure to our lips can aught supply.

Whether ‘tis wine we drink or food we eat,

Till Grace divine and Faith shall sanctify.”

We thank everyone who came along as a guest and congratulate all of Dalet on a wonderful afternoon of celebrating all things medieval.
