National Day of Action Against Bullying
Friday 19 March was the National Day of Action Against Bullying. St John’s is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all and so is a registered school for this day. At St John's our students engaged in the following activities:
- Circle time discussions on what bullying means (and doesn’t mean)
- Discussed strategies for what to do if you ever feel bullied or witness bullying
- Explored the resources from the NDA website (https://bullyingnoway.gov.au/)
- 5/6 students engaged in an Esafety Webinar focusing on what it means to be an “upstander”
Here’s what some of our students had to say on the topic of BULLYING:
“A student who is an upstander is not a bystander but actually does something about it such as telling a teacher when they witness bullying” - Harrison
“Stand up for people if you see them getting bullied. Don’t just stand and watch.” - Chelsea
“Tell the person to stop and tell the teacher if you ever get bullied” - Nathaniel
“We need to stand up if someone is getting bullied” - Isla
“Bullying is something that keeps going, it’s not just one fight” - Evan
“Bullying is not nice and people can get hurt” - Harmony
“No bullying! Never join in someone not being kind to someone else” - James
“Bullying is outrageous and we should put a stop to it” - Monica
