PHYSICAL EDUCATION

BENTLEIGH DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY

On Tuesday 7 May, 50 Murrumbeena students competed in the Bentleigh District Cross Country at Bald Hill Park, Clarinda. The sun was shining brightly and there was a slight breeze making for perfect running conditions. The team dedicated their time to training and showed commitment through training before school and during their lunchtime.

Murrumbeena students tried so hard in their races showing so much enthusiasm and perseverance. Their support for each other was incredible to watch. All students tried their best and there were a number of students who improved on their results from previous years.

The 12/13 year old age groups for both girls and boys were the two stand outs for the day. The 12/13 girls age group had two girls progress through to Division and the 12/13 boys age group had three  boys progress through, placing 2nd, 4th and 6th.  Both age groups received the runners up pendant; a fantastic achievement.

In the 12/13yr old mulitclass category Angus M did an excellent job and improved his personal best time for the course by 1 minute

The outstanding individual runners that have progressed through to Beachside Division are:

9/10 age group- Ruby H placing 7th, Darcy L placing 8th and Bimal S placing 7th.

11 age group- Elisabeth E placing 6th.

12/13 age group- Liam A placing 2nd, Andrew M placing 4th, James M placing 6th, Stephy W placing 5th, Bianca C placing 7th and Angus M for winning the Multiclass event.

Good-luck to all of those students competing at Beachside Division Cross Country to be held on the 28 May, at Bald Hill Park.

Thanks to Miss McKellar, Mrs Monotti, Mrs Piatella and all of the parents for your support on the day. A special thanks to Linda Mc Caffrey and Elissa Lidstone for your help with the marquee.
