Principal’s Message

Three Way Learning Conferences

There was a great response to our Three Way Learning Conferences held last week.  It gave parents/carers an opportunity to meet their child's teachers and discuss their learning goals. This collaborative process  provides a great start to the year and is far more beneficial than a simple information night which outlines classroom structures and procedures. Research shows that strong parent - student - school partnerships have a positive impact on student achievement.  One simple way of being involved is to ask your child what they have 'learned' not what they have 'done' that day.  A simple change of language places the focus on learning growth rather than on completing tasks.

Parent Learning Walks - Session 1 for Stage 3 Tuesday 9th March 9-10am

This term, parents/carers are invited to attend 'Learning Walks' guided by me and a member of the Leadership Team during the English Block.

Our first Parent Learning Walk will be held for Stage 3 parents/carers (Years 5/6) on Tuesday 9th March commencing at 9am and concluding by 10am.  Parents/carers must book their spot as numbers are limited - please contact the school office on 6765 4079.

This is a great opportunity for parents to come in for a guided 'walk and talk' where you can see first hand what the children are learning across K-6.  We have a strong focus on literacy so our morning session runs to a tight schedule of modelled and shared reading, guided reading and writing workshops.  You may have heard your child talk about the 'VCOP' wall and learning intentions/success criteria?  The Parent Learning Walks will offer you an opportunity to find out about these and much more.

P & F Association

The P & F Association AGM was held last week.  Thank you to the parents who were able to attend.  I encourage everyone to come along to the next meeting and promise you won't get a job!

Many thanks to outgoing President Bernadette Wood for her support.  Congratulations to the following people on their elected positions:  President - Cherie Bell, Treasurer - Sussan Bourke, Rochelle Cashen - Secretary (TBC).  We appreciate their support in taking on specific roles for the P & F Association.

Anyone can help support the school by volunteering to assist with fundraisers throughout the year eg. Mother's day stall, Father's day stall, etc.  There has been so many restrictions placed on us due to Covid-19 but hopefully things will start to get back to normal soon.  The next meeting of the P & F Association will be held on Tuesday 23rd March at 5.30pm - everyone welcome!

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.

May God bless you,

Katie Hanes
