‘Everything is interconnected’ - 2021 College Theme

“Everything is interconnected” and we have an “urgent challenge to protect our common home.” These are the words of Pope Francis from his encyclical ‘Laudato Si’. It is this crucial message that has formed our College Theme for 2021. Within religion classes, students have had the chance to truly reflect on the state of our world - to understand that the environmental issues that we face as a society are also a social problem, and that we all have a role to play in creating positive change. Our students were able to work together come up with some creative and practical ways to put Pope Francis’ call into action. I hope you enjoy looking through some samples of work and hopefully  some vibrant discussions have extended into your homes. God bless.

Laudato Si Prayer

Dear God,

We are grateful for the life you have given us and the planet you have bestowed upon us. We are happy with all things we have and would love to share it with others. We are also grateful for the family and friends you have given us.

We are guilty of the ways we have treated the earth and all the living in it. We are guilty of wasting food and polluting the earth with rubbish.

We must change out habits and if you will, then help us change our lives into living the way you would like us to. O sacred heart of Jesus, live in our hearts there by making us the temples of the holy spirit. You created us in your own image and likeness. Guide us through the light you shine. Help us to be humble. Help us to reduce the waste we make and care for the nature.

Live Jesus in our hearts.                                          Forever.
