Inquiry Learning

During our inquiry time at Trinity, we follow the MAPPEN curriculum, which also aligns with the Victorian curriculum. It incorporates different subject areas such as Geography and Science. Over the last couple of weeks, we have been learning about the different types of communities; such as animal communities, our home community and our school community. We first looked at how different animals, such as penguins, work together to keep each other warm in Winter. We also learned about our home communities. We discussed the differences and similarities in each of our areas and the different people that can help us there, such as firefighters or shopkeepers. We then went on a school tour to get to know the different people and places in our school community. We had a chat about each person’s responsibility in school and how they can help us. This gave everyone an opportunity to ask questions and collect information about their school community. It was also a great opportunity for the preps to get to know the greater school area.
