As the International College Captain, I want to personally welcome our International Students to Macleod College. After two years of COVID, we finally get to see some new faces in our multicultural community!

On the 13th July, we welcomed the new International Students with music performances and delicious food. Thank you to Ms. Karalis and Ms. Cochrane for organising such a wonderful day for our International Students.

Our new International Students have come from different countries, including China, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Ukraine. They will be part of Macleod College by joining our Intensive English Language Centre or entering straight into mainstream classes. 

Let’s make our International Students feel welcomed and involved by giving them an exciting journey at Macleod College!

Here are a few words from some of our new arrivals:

I have been the student of Macleod College for week. I had learnt a lot of new words here like desert and dessert. These are tricky. I have learnt about humanities such as Australia history and government. What I am looking forward to improve my English skills. I want to speak and listen and write and understand more in English.

I am 16 years old and I love this school. When I came to Macleod College, teachers and classmates helped me a lot, I also have many friends in school, they are all very friendly to me. In the first 2 week, I learned a lot of new vocabulary and I learned things about Australia, such as the Indigenous people of Australia, and the democratic voting system in Australia.

I am a little musician, I am often addicted to music, I am very happy to find interested friends in this school. This school makes me feel safe and happy because it has a lot of positive energy. I like this school very much. In the IELC class so far, I have learnt a good strategy to learn spelling. I am looking forward to studying VCE successfully in 2023. Guan, China

I play the guitar for 6 years. I like listening to music and play the computer. I learnt about native Australia animals. Australian animals are unique.

I really liked the look of this school so I decided to come here to study. When I came here, everyone there was so good, from teachers to friends. I want to know more about this school and make friends.

I've been here for two weeks and I have already learnt a lot of things about Australia, and many new words. I like to draw and play game in my free time. I love dogs and hamster because they are cute. I miss my pet hamster. His name is Ngo.

I like to do calisthenics and listen to Latin music. I am a very friendly person and willing to help anyone who needs it. I've been in Macleod for half a year and there are a lot of nice people. I am looking forward to studying VCE successfully in 2023.
