Year 8 English

The Year 8's are studying the genre of 'Thrillers' in English this term. I challenged my Year 8s to redesign a famous movie poster, but make it thrilling! They were able to change the titles by using puns or changing design elements so that the movies took on a more 'sinister' edge. Some of my favourite are: How to Kill a Guy in 10 Ways, Shriek and Not Alone.Ā

Ā

As part of the English program at Macleod, all students are invited to select a book of their choosing to read for ten minutes at the start of each English class. Today during their double, some of our Year 8s enjoyed a relaxing ā€˜sip and readā€™ tea party. There were a selection of all sorts of teas and the students brought their favourite mugs and read for twenty minutes! A great morning.ā€

Science

In Science, Year 7's are learning about contact and non-contact forces. They used paper to create whirly birds to investigate air resistance and surface area. They used paper clips and magnets to learn about magnetic fields.Ā

IELC Food and Health Class

Hello. I am German Tsymidanov. I am fourteen years old. I come from the city of Mariupol in Ukraine. I arrived in June. Now I study in the Intensive English Language Centre. I learnt many things about Australia with our teacher Ms Karalis. We also do specialist classes. In the Food and Health specialist class our teacher is Ms. Audino.Ā

Ā

We made smoothies. I used a measuring cup, blender, and a tablespoon. The smoothie was delicious because the ingredients were; frozen strawberries, blueberries, mango. We added bananas, milk, yogurt and honey. Thank you Ms Audino and Ms Kate for a fun lesson.Ā
