The extra curricular opportunities are endless at St Brigid's!

Study Slam

Study Slam is a teacher supported program where you can seek help with outstanding school work and/or personal study. It helps strengthen your revision skills and can provide a safe, focused environment for study.

Study Slam is open to any student, across all year levels and takes place in the Senior Study Centre. It runs from 3:30pm to 4:30pm Monday to Friday every week.

Art Competition

To celebrate the Transurban Public Art Program, high school students in years 7-10 are invited to create their own artwork, inspired by the 21 signature art pieces that form 'Canal to Creek'.

The theme for the Canal to Creek Prize is'Connections'. 

You will need to consider connections to earth, culture, history, movement and environment.

There's over $15,000 in prizes to be won!

1st Prize (for each year group) = iPad Tablet

2nd Prize (for each year group) = $250 art voucher

3rd Prize (for each year group) = $150 art voucher

 

The successful first place winner from each year group, will be entered into a second round of judging for the title of "Overall student winner". The successful entry for this category will be awarded a MacBook Pro*.

 

**Please note, the successful overall student winner will win a MacBook Pro only.\

Also.... One school will be selected for the overall school Prize of a $5,000 Eckersley's arts grant. This is based on the volume and calibre of entries received from the school - so get as many people involved from our school as you can!

How to Enter:

From August 15, click the 'enter now' tab on the website and upload your artwork.

Your artwork must be submitted in a JPG or PNG file and needs to be at least 1500 pixels wide (up to 5MB/ each: jpg, png, gif).

You also need to submit an artist statement which is limited to 100 words. If your artwork is shortlisted, you may be asked to send through a higher quality file. A virtual interactive gallery will be created to showcase all successful entries which will be available for the public to see. For privacy reasons, only your first name and school will be published.

**Entries open 15 August 2022 until 4 November 2022, and winners are announced on 30 January 2023.**

You are encouraged you to explore the virtual world of Canal to Creek and be inspired by the many different types of artworks and all the wonderful ways these pieces were created. Make sure you visit the below website for all the information you need!

Each winning artwork will be framed and displayed at our state of the art Motorway Control Centre (MCC) for the M8. To honour and congratulate the Canal to Creek Prize winners, an awards ceremony will be held at the MCC. The winners in each Year group will be invited to celebrate their award-winning artworks and will be congratulated with a decorative trophy on the day.

Soil Week Competition

 

The world under our feet is invisible, yet it is a world teeming with billions of microorganisms working together to keep our plants and animals, landscapes and water supplies clean and healthy. Soil Week Australia would love to hear about what your research has revealed about healthy soil. This competition is free to enter for Year 7, 8, 9 & 10 students. For secondary school students, the topic is 'Healthy Soil, Agriculture and Climate'. Entries can be in any digital format. This might mean producing a video, making a magazine, drawing a picture, recording a speech, writing a play, painting a mural, designing a video game, writing a book review, or painting a mural. You just need to be able to send it to Soil Week Australia, (or a link to it) in an email or upload it to a website. For secondary students, there will be one winning entry.

PRIZES: The winning student will receive a $500 JB Hi-Fi voucher and the school will receive $1000 to be spent on resources to build students' understanding of healthy soil, agriculture, and climate. Every school and student who registers will receive one year's free access to the Soil Learning Centre resources, valued at $300.

Competition Timelines: 4 September 2022: Registrations close 

25 October 2022. Entries need to be submitted
