Holy Saviour School Update

Dear Families,

Today marks the halfway point of Term 3 and we are nearing the end of the winter season which hopefully means we are reaching the end of the illness period. I know many families, like mine, have been hit hard with illness this last term, and that doesn’t even include Covid. I just wanted to thank all families for your support and keeping your children home when they are unwell.

This coming Monday is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. We celebrate Mary’s passing from this world into the glory of God. Mary was a person of faith and trust who loved her son Jesus, even when he did things she didn’t understand. We pray that we walk in Mary’s shoes and learn to be people of faith and hope, willing to trust in God. We will be celebrating with a whole school mass at 11:45am on Monday. Families are welcome to attend, we just ask that you wear a mask.

School Closure Day

Just a small reminder that this  Wednesday 17th August is a Student Free School Closure Day.

School Improvement Framework

Every four years, Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne undertake a single model of review using the School Improvement Framework (SIF) Rubric. The School Review is used to support deep learning and ongoing monitoring of improvement throughout the four-year Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) within the School Improvement Framework (SIF). We are currently in the process of preparing for our review in Term 4. Staff have been engaged in a number of Staff Meetings, and our closure day on Wednesday 17th August will be spent solely on review. Staff will engage in self-assessment and reflection (SAR), including the collection and analysis of data and evidence, using the SIF Rubric.

Bunnings BBQ

A huge thank you to those parents who volunteered their time for our Bunnings BBQ last Saturday 6th August. We were blessed with the weather, it was cold but dry! We managed to raise (after costs) a total of $1,176. A special thank you to George Theodoratos, Denise Konstantinou and members of the SAC who coordinated the event and ensured that the day went smoothly. I have just been contacted by Bunnings and they have offered us another day in late November/early December. Keep your eyes peeled for this date as we will need more volunteers for this one!

Congratulations D'Lima Family!

Congratulations to the D'Lima Family on the safe arrival of their precious baby boy, Kellian Lendl D’Lima born at 1:20pm on the 4th of August 2022 weighing 2.97kgs. Proud older sisters Kataleya (3/4EW) and Kiarra (P1/2KV) are very excited with their new baby brother.

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools - School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS)

Throughout each year, we pause to listen to our students, families and staff to gauge how our learning community is travelling. This feedback is invaluable to our progress as effective school communities and is backed by evidence-based research and best practices. I invite you to read the following letter which outlines the process for 2022.

Billboards, Posters, Flyers!

We have some new posters & flyers being printed at the moment, and we’d love some more people to help distribute these and/or have them displayed in a prominent position! If you can help, please email office@hsvs.catholic.edu.au and we can get some to you.

Dental Van Visit

All children have received a permission form for the School Dental Initiative run by Australian Dental Health Victoria.  Parents wanted to help promote our beautiful school.

The School Advisory Council is organising a short promotional video and we would greatly appreciate your assistance. All you need to do is help sell our school by answering a few questions or even just talk about your experiences. Past and present students and parents are needed. Hopefully we will have some celebrities helping us out too. Short messages will be edited and posted on Instagram and Facebook. Please email Belinda Saville if you are able to help us out,  binndy20@gmail.com.
