How does our garden grow

Farm news

Dear Families,

As you know, one of our chickens, Roast, sadly passed away last week. We are glad that she is now at peace. Boomerang will now be joining Chloe’s family at their home, where she will be loved and well taken care of in her retirement.

We’ll look to adopt new chickens in Term One next year and hopefully get our egg production up and running again, until that time the chicken coop will remain empty.

Everybody is excited to be back on site, and Haley & Andrew have got many more ideas and projects for the farm in the upcoming year. There’s talk of building bird houses in the future, to welcome all of our feathered friends into the trees where they can live without disturbance, completing our ‘A’ frame hothouse with recycled blinds and creating a lizard sanctuary.

We were hoping to have a campfire on the week of our return but unfortunately the weather didn’t allow it so we enjoyed toast & condiments inside, a great way to start back.

The fence between the house and the farm has gone up, which allows the kids to be able to have Engaging with Place back onsite. There is a little bit of work required to get the farm looking ship shape again however many hands make light work and with some weeding, watering, harvesting and clearing of the garden beds farm will resume as though lockdown never happened.

As the end of the year approaches, the Grade 6’s value any time that they get to spend over at the farm. Even though Engaging with Place is only once a week, the grades have played, worked, cooperated and done many wonderful things that will always be remembered throughout their lives.

We hope you enjoy the rest of the year!

Kind Regards,

Leni, Anh Van and Kelly

National Recycling Week

8 - 14 NOVEMBER, 2021

Let's all become better at recycling and managing our rubbish

What is National Recycling Week?

National Recycling Week, established by Planet Ark in 1996, is held every year during the second week of November, the campaign aims to help you reduce your waste and recycle right. This year we're celebrating its 25th anniversary!

The Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) is an evidence-based system for Australia and New Zealand, that provides you with easy to understand recycling information when you need it most. It removes confusion, saves you time and reduces waste going to landfill.

There are three types of label classifications:
