Your Essential Guide to Monash Science

This is a great resource for Year 12 students with course advice videos, virtual precinct tours, pathways advice, the Subject Adjustment bonus tool and more.

Monash Science Precinct Tours

Now we are opening up, we would love to welcome your senior students onto campus! These tours are a fun and safe way for them to see where they could be studying next year, meet some of our current students and have all their questions answered. Please note that any visitors to campus must be fully vaccinated or have a valid exemption as per university policy

Book a 1:1 Appointment

Once again we are offering 1:1 appointments, either with Monash science course advisors. There will be many appointments available on the day results are released, as well as right through the Change of Preference period.

NEW DIPLOMA PROGRAM AT ACU

ACU are happy to announce that they will be offering five new diploma programs at the Melbourne Campus in 2022:

 Diploma in Business

Why study a diploma? Diplomas are fantastic pathways to further study at ACU as students can gain credit into a bachelor’s degree. Students will learn essential academic skills and be taught by our experts, preparing them to undertake further study if they wish. Diplomas can also be used as standalone qualifications – our programs are accredited and Commonwealth supported places (CSP) are available.

Charles Sturt’s Doctor of Medicine, a Joint Program in Medicine delivered in partnership with Western Sydney University, will prepare students for a rewarding medicine career.

While there are no pre-requisites, students are strongly encouraged to complete some chemistry study before starting medicine. And the good news is that we offer free Study Link subjects in anatomy, bioscience, chemistry, and physics.

Students can check out some tips from our Dean of Rural Medicine, Prof. Lesley Forster, about subject selection, rural entry options and the steps they can take to get there.

Wondering what’s involved in applying to study medicine? Here are the steps that your students will follow when they’re ready to apply.

1. Register and sit the UCAT ANZ

The University Clinical Aptitude Test for Australia and New Zealand (UCAT ANZ) is an external assessment tool used by Australian universities as part of the medical entry application process. Students will need to sit the UCAT ANZ in the same year that they apply for their medicine degree.

2. Apply through UAC

Students will apply for the Doctor of Medicine through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). Applications for our medicine degree open in August and close at the end of September. There’s a minimum Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) requirement, and in 2022 the ATAR for entry to medicine at Charles Sturt is:

  • 95.5 for non-rural (general) admission
  • 91.5 for our Rural Entry Admissions Scheme.

 3. Multi-Station Mini Interview

The UCAT ANZ scores will determine a ranked list for interview. If your students are invited to interview, they’ll be asked a series of questions in relation to a scenario at each of the interview stations, with eight minutes to respond to the questions for each scenario. Before the interview they’ll need to complete a structured Medical Admissions Questionnaire and responses will be discussed as part of the interview

Are your students from a rural or regional area? They could be eligible for a reduced ATAR for admission to our medicine course through the Rural Entry Admissions Scheme. To check their eligibility and for them to apply:

  1. Search Health Workforce Locator using the student’s residential postcode.
  2. Select ‘ASGS Remoteness Areas’ and ‘2016’, then enter the student’s home address.
  3.  At the time of application the student will need to complete and submit a community member confirmation form. This form must be submitted with their UAC application for them to be considered for rural admission.
