Principal's Report

Term 4

It is fantastic to have all our students now back on-site and engaging in a full range of educational experiences. Our Year 12 students have been on camp this week on the Mornington Peninsula and our Primary and Secondary school Graduations and our Secondary 7/8 Spectacular will be proceeding. Please find some information below regarding upcoming events.

Transition Day

We have our Transition Day on Tuesday, 7th of December. On this day all students, including those who are new to the school, will work with their 2022 teachers and classmates in their new classrooms. Please note that following this day there may still be changes to teachers and/or class groupings.

Lower Primary students will have received further information regarding the arrangements for the day from Kath Moore.

Information Sessions in 2022

This is just a ‘heads up’ in preparation for 2022. On the evening of Wednesday, 2nd February, we will hold an Information Evening for all Upper Primary, Secondary 7/8 and Secondary 9/10 families.

Parents and carers will be invited to attend a meeting in their child’s section where information about all curriculum areas, camps, excursions, routines and structures will be discussed. There will be time for questions and parents will get a chance to meet all the teachers working in their section of the school.

We will then hold a separate Meet the Teacher afternoon/night on Tuesday, 15th February. This will give parents and carers the opportunity to meet one on one with their child’s classroom teacher and provide information that will assist the teacher to get to know their child.

VCAL will hold various other information sessions throughout the year.

COVID-19 Update

We have had a number of positive cases of COVID-19 at Concord School over the past few weeks. Fortunately, the process following the identification of a positive case has been simplified and we have not needed to close the school.

Schools continue the process of identifying contacts of a confirmed case of COVID-19 at schools and if your child is identified as a contact the school will contact you directly. Contacts will be required to complete a standard (PCR) test within 24 hours from when they are identified by the school as a contact. If the PCR test returns a negative result, the student can immediately return to school, with evidence of the negative result provided to the school.

It is strongly recommended that contacts complete five days of rapid antigen tests in the morning before they attend school. You can obtain these testing kits from testing centres if your child is required to complete a standard PCR test.

As we head into the final few weeks of the school year, please continue to care for yourself and those around you.

Congratulations Irene Mouzakiaris

Every year IVET celebrates the achievements of students undertaking VET courses and awards successful students with a very special excellence award.

Out of over many nominations throughout the whole of Australia, our very own Irene Mouzakiaris was one of the 8 successful winners! Not only was she recognised for her achievements in her Certificate I Employment Pathways class, despite the many difficulties we have faced throughout the year, but was also awarded a $500 award.

Irene was shocked to have won the award and so proud of herself, as are we in the year 11/12 department. To make the occasion even more  special, her mother was there to celebrate the achievement.

Well Done Irene!
