Prayers

We pray for all in our community who are sick or suffering.

  • Caroline Smith’ mother (staff member)
  • Julie Ward (staff member)
  • Maria Oliver (mother of Old Boy Tom and James)

We pray for our country and our world still living in this pandemic and we remember the many who have suffered and are suffering through COVID-19.

May our loving God, with Mary and Champagnat, walk with all members of the Marist family. Amen

Prayer for All Saints Day

We give you thanks, O God, for all the saints who ever worshipped you
Whether in brush arbors or cathedrals,
Weathered wooden churches or crumbling cement meeting houses
Where your name was lifted and adored.
We give you thanks, O God, for hands lifted in praise:
Manicured hands and hands stained with grease or soil,
Strong hands and those gnarled with age
Holy hands Used as wave offerings across the land.
We thank you, God, for hardworking saints;
Whether hard-hatted or steel-booted,
Head ragged or aproned, Blue-collared or three-piece-suited
They left their mark on the earth for you, for us, for our children to come.
Thank you, God, for the sacrifices made by those who have gone before us.
Bless the memories of your saints, God.
May we learn how to walk wisely from their examples of faith, dedication, worship, and love. Amen

Marist Student Leaders Summit 2021-2022

On the weekend of 30 October, as the Year 11 student leaders take on the responsibilities of leadership, the College Captains of Ashgrove were able to gather and meet the other School Captains from other Marist schools in Queensland at the 2022 Marist Student Leaders Summit. This was an opportunity to explore leadership in the Marist way using the five characteristics of Marist life and to make plans for the new year.

Congratulations to our College Captain Ethen Tsiamalili, our College Vice-Captains, Academic – Douglas Cowlishaw, Culture – Jeremy Vanderbyl, Mission – Samuel Mead and Sport – Connor Lyons.

A wonderful part of the experience for the Marist College Ashgrove students was the addition to the weekend of three Ashgrove Old Boys who volunteered to assist. We thank Joseph and Thomas Doyle (Mission Captains 2018, 2020) and James Clarke (College Captain 2020) for their presence and support over the weekend.

November 2: The Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed [All Souls Day]

Each year in the Church’s calendar we commemorate all the faithful departed on November 2nd and the month of November is given in a special way to remembering and praying for the dead.

Today, we pray especially for All Souls, those who have faithfully followed Christ in their life and they have died. We are also invited to take some extra time to remember and pray for the significant individuals in our life who have left this world. They may be family members, friends or individuals who made a significant difference in your life. What impact did these men and women have in your life? Today, take time to remember each one of these special individuals. Remember their smile and their care for you. Trust that these beloved individuals are still watching over you and perhaps today, they may be interceding on your behalf with God.

Take time to thank God, Jesus and the Spirit for gifting you with these special individuals. And when you have moved on to heaven, trust that you also will be remembered with great love and prayer by your family and friends!

May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Mary, our Good Mother, pray for us.
St. Marcellin Champagnat, pray for us.
St. Mary of the Cross, pray for us.
And may we always remember to pray for one another.
