“Every day, every hour, I feel the love, I feel the power!
Heavenly angels are watching over me, every day they’re watching me!”

These words rang out from the Life Ministry Centre as the Senior Choir performed at last week’s Senior Ensemble Evening. Each ensemble presented a very high standard and relished the opportunity to perform to a live (and very appreciative) audience. Sinfonia performed a variety of styles from film scores to the impressive Praeludium and Allegro by Kreisler, featuring Music Captain Mattias Talpan as soloist on the violin. The Senior Concert Band entertained with Fortius (Romeyn) and a little Rick Astley number! Cantabile played their items beautifully and with great control. Camerata once again displayed their high skill level and Sforzando entertained with some popular tunes. The Vocal Ensemble showed their versatility, singing a contemporary worship song and musical theatre. They also separated into two smaller groups, with the girls sharing a beautiful rendition of the Cyndi Lauper classic True Colours. The boys debuted their barbershop quartet, much to the delight of the audience. The concert concluded with a rousing anthem from the Senior Choir, accompanied by percussion rhythms.

The week before, the Performing Arts Department hosted the first of the Soiree evenings for 2022, which gave students the opportunity to present a solo to an audience. This provides valuable experience in performance, especially leading up to instrumental and vocal exams. With presentations from both Junior and Senior students, it was a very entertaining night of music.

Stay tuned next term for more information about The Little Mermaid and a report of the Junior Ensemble Evening.

Have a wonderful holiday and keep practising!
