Performing Arts Highlights

Year Foundation Students

The Luna and Achilles Communities acted out a short fairy tale play to one another changing their voice, body and face to match the different characters. Students experimented with their voice to further improvise a fairy tale story using puppets.

Students are now beginning to learn about Music in Performing Arts. The students will participate in a range of listening, movement and instrument activities to develop a basic understanding of the music elements: beat, pitch, dynamics and tempo. They will match different sound stories using percussion and melodic instruments.

Year 1/2 Students

The Ulysses, Xenica and Argus Communities acted out fairy tale stories with a story structure and setting using puppets. They showed changes in their voices to show the storyteller, hero and villain. Students used improvisation to react as different characters from the given situation. They reflected on their performance skills and on a chosen peer for their engagement with the audience.

Students are now beginning to learn about Music in Performing Arts. The students will revise known rhythm patterns from the previous years and gain knowledge into new rhythm patterns which include rests. They will create music pieces individually and in groups to perform to the class using percussion and melodic instruments.
